In 1838 Walter Thomson, with Wife Jane, arrived in Australia and established a winemaking tradition. Faithful to his approach, our estate grown parcels are carefully tended by our vignerons to create wines of great intensity. The 2021 vintage in Clare Valley witnessed cooler, favourable conditions, which fostered gradual ripening, allowing the fruit to express its full character with grace and purity.
The nose displays a rich bouquet of dark fruits, toasty mocha and hickory, enhanced by notes of nutmeg ad dark chocolate. The palate is full-bodied with robust flavours of dark berries, cinnamon, black pepper and aniseed. The well-balanced oak and fruit create a round and rich mouthfeel, supported by soft, silky tannins and refreshing acidity.
