Nestled in the Clare Valley’s Stanley Flat region, is Calcannia. It’s moderate-continental climate enjoys cool nights and long warm summer days, retaining crisp acidity, balance and structure in our wines.
With just over 18 hectares, or around 43 acres, of Shiraz, our estate grown fruit shone in these conditions for a richness and concentration of flavour.

Offering fabulous fruit purity and richness, the wine shows black/blueberry, vanilla, clove and cedar notes with a touch of dark chocolate. The palate delivers excellent weight and richly textured mouthfeel, finishing gorgeously long and delicious. At its best: now to 2031.
Deepest cherry red. Lovely lifted peppery black fruit all bramble and lightly minty yet savoury in its spicy character. The palate was not at all what I expected aftter the lifted aroma. It's rich and chewy and slightly charry even though there is no new oak. Thick and dense in the mouth, not easy to approach, for now at least, and cries out for a steak. There's a lot of what tastes like oak sweetness, with some milk chocolate, even though there is no new oak, so it may be the fruit. It really needs more freshness for balance. Wait
Imperial purple with vibrant magenta. An upfront bouquet of mulberry, blackberry and cherry. The Palate is alive with plush varietal Shiraz, showing intense spices of white and black pepper, cinnamon, and Star anise. Finishing with firm tight tannins and long lively palate.
